Luna, the German Shepherd photographed at home and on the beach

There is a kiss on one side of Luna's head and a smile on the other, and Luna, in the middle, has her tongue all the way out. It is hard to look at this photograph without smiling back.
Luna is a German Shepherd, and Adsie B.'s family booked her a portrait session in two places: at home, and down at the beach.
We had a glorious photoshoot with our German Shepherd Luna at home and also down at the beach.
Why home, and why the beach
Dogs tend to relax where they feel at home, and for many that means their own backyard, or wet sand and open space. A dog that is relaxed looks like itself in a photograph. A dog in a strange room often looks like a dog in a strange room.
The viewing
The part of the family's note we like best is what came after. A few hours later the photos were ready, and the family came in to see them:
Nice comfortable atmosphere, coffee and tea offered and then the viewing on the projector against the wall all I can say is what a perfect experience.
It is one thing to see your dog on a phone screen. It is another to see them across a whole wall.
The note ends with the line every family hopes to be able to write:
Thank you Simon and now we have the perfect photos that capture Luna in her purest form.
More shepherds, in their families' words
Luna's story is from a portrait session, not from a book. If you would like more German Shepherds in their families' own words, German Shepherds of Australia, Volume One holds more than 200 of them, from Lyla, the princess in gumboots to Jesse, Best Dog at the wedding.
