Working-line German Shepherd · German Shepherds of Australia, Volume One
Cherokee was still waiting

Most pages in German Shepherds of Australia are written by the family. Cherokee's is written by Cherokee, and she has a lot to say.
My name is Cherokee and my mum calls me Cherry or Chez for short! I am a 3 year old working line German Shepherd that loves to play tug with whatever I can get my paws on or playing ball!
A dog with a job to do
Working-line German Shepherds are bred for drive and stamina, and Chez reads like the textbook example. She runs the backyard with three of her siblings, teasing them with toys in a game of keep away. She goes hiking in the forest and chases her ball into the waves at the beach. If her mum is not keeping her busy enough, she has an answer for that too: grab her mum's clothing, grab whatever her mum is holding, or run under her feet.
She describes herself as super sassy, always with a toy in her mouth, and super independent with people. With her mum, it is another story: super sooky and sweet, with eyes for no one else.
Chez also goes to work. Her mum trains dogs, and Chez helps out by socialising with the other dogs, so her mum can see how they behave and how they get along.
The profile, a year later
Then comes the part of the page that stops people:
My mum adopted me after seeing my profile a year prior but couldn't get me at the time but it was meant to be and I was still waiting for her by the time she happened to check!
A year is a long time in a young dog's life. Her mum saw her, could not bring her home at the time, and a year went by. When she happened to look again, Cherokee was still there.
I came into her life and changed it for the good, she wouldn't even be able to live without me now.
Call me Chez
In the book, Cherokee looks out from warm, glowing light, tongue out, her title in capitals above her: Call Me Chez. On the facing page is Putney, a long-haired shepherd known to his family as Black Velvet. His story is coming soon.
If you have ever scrolled past a dog's adoption profile and kept thinking about them, this is the page for you. Cherokee is one of more than 200 German Shepherds in German Shepherds of Australia, Volume One, and every copy supports German Shepherd Rescue Victoria.
